galactic core
Heart of spirals
The galactic core is the dense central region of a galaxy, typically containing a supermassive black hole, ancient stars, and intense gravitational activity.
In references to our own Milky Way, the galactic core lies toward the constellation Sagittarius, obscured from view by dust clouds: Radio telescopes can peer through the dust to study the galactic core.
