arise

Spring into being

Arise, a verb, is derived from and very closely related to another verb, rise.

Both verbs share most meanings with the phrasal verb get up, but arise is usually limited to the meaning of getting out of bed: She rose from the table but She arose at dawn.

Arise is much more common with abstract subjects such as difficulty, question, or dispute: The question arose as to how we could get our money back.

The meaning here is come into being and it is one of the most frequent uses of arise: This problem has arisen as a result of neglect by authorities.
