anti-war movement

Organized opposition activism

An anti-war movement is organized opposition to a particular war or to war generally.

Such movements typically involve protests, demonstrations, and political advocacy aimed at ending military conflicts or preventing their escalation: The anti-war movement of the 1960s shaped a generation.

The term often refers specifically to opposition to the Vietnam War, though anti-war movements have formed around conflicts from World War I to Iraq.
