anoraks

Waterproof pullover coats

Anoraks are hooded waterproof jackets, originally designed for cold weather and outdoor activities.

The word comes from Greenlandic Inuit.

In British slang, an anorak is a person obsessively devoted to a niche hobby or obscure topic—trainspotters and other harmless enthusiasts stereotypically wearing such jackets: He's a complete anorak about vintage synthesizers.
