Japanese animated series
Animes is the English plural of anime, Japanese animated films and television series characterized by distinctive visual styles and wide-ranging genres.
While anime is technically both singular and plural in Japanese, English speakers commonly add the -s: I've been watching a lot of animes lately.
Some purists object to this form.
