fan service
Crowd-pleasing content insertions
Fan service is material in entertainment media—especially anime, manga, and video games—designed primarily to please devoted fans rather than serve the story.
The term often refers to gratuitous sexual content like revealing outfits or suggestive camera angles: The beach episode was pure fan service.
It can also mean callbacks, cameos, or references that reward longtime followers: The finale was full of fan service for people who'd watched from the beginning.
