assessor
Values your house
An assessor is someone who evaluates or judges something, most commonly property values for taxation purposes.
County assessors determine how much homes and land are worth so local governments can calculate property taxes.
The term extends to other evaluative roles: an assessor might grade examinations, evaluate insurance claims, or sit alongside a judge to provide technical expertise.
The tax assessor valued our house at twice what we paid for it.
