self-inquiry

Questioning one's self

Self-inquiry is the practice of turning attention inward to examine one's own thoughts, beliefs, and identity.

In spiritual traditions, especially Advaita Vedanta, it refers to investigating the nature of the self through questions like "Who am I?" The aim is direct insight rather than intellectual analysis: Through self-inquiry, she discovered that her anxiety stemmed from old assumptions about worthiness.
