administrative districts
Official territorial divisions
Administrative districts are geographic areas created for government purposes—managing services, collecting taxes, enforcing laws, or organizing elections.
Countries divide themselves into provinces, states, counties, municipalities, or other units, each with defined boundaries and some level of local authority.
The census divided the region into twelve administrative districts.
