Y-intersections

Roads splitting diagonally

Y-intersections are road junctions where three roads meet at angles forming a Y shape, with one road splitting into two or two roads merging into one.

Unlike T-intersections where roads meet at roughly right angles, Y-intersections have more acute angles between the branches: The accident happened at the Y-intersection where the highway forks.
