factory floor
Manufacturing work zone
The factory floor is the production area of a manufacturing facility where goods are actually made—the workspace of machines, assembly lines, and workers.
The term distinguishes this space from offices, boardrooms, and management suites: Decisions made in the boardroom don't always make sense on the factory floor.
It often represents the perspective of ordinary workers as opposed to executives.
