Wabash

Indiana state river

Wabash is a river flowing through Indiana and along the Indiana-Illinois border, notable in American geography and folklore.

It appears in the state song of Indiana, "On the Banks of the Wabash, Far Away." The name derives from a Miami-Illinois word meaning "it shines white" or "pure white," referring to the river's limestone bed.

Wabash also names several towns and counties in the Midwest.
