Ohio State
Big Ten school
Ohio State refers to Ohio State University, a large public research university in Columbus, Ohio.
In casual speech, the name almost always implies the school's athletic programs, especially football: Ohio State is playing Michigan this weekend.
Fans and alumni famously emphasize "THE Ohio State University," a branding that draws both pride and mockery.
