Sacramento River
Central Valley waterway
The Sacramento River is the largest river in California, flowing roughly 400 miles from near Mount Shasta south through the Central Valley to San Francisco Bay.
It provides much of the state's drinking water and agricultural irrigation.
The river meets the San Joaquin River in an extensive delta before emptying into the bay.
