Tippecanoe

Indiana battle site

Tippecanoe is a river in Indiana, site of an 1811 battle where American forces under William Henry Harrison defeated a Native American confederation.

The victory made Harrison famous, and when he ran for president in 1840, his campaign used the slogan Tippecanoe and Tyler Too—Tyler being his running mate.

The name now evokes that era of American politics.
