Virginia creeper

Wall-scaling native vine

Virginia creeper is a North American climbing vine with leaves divided into five leaflets that turn brilliant red in autumn.

It climbs walls and trees using adhesive tendrils, spreading vigorously enough to become invasive.

Often confused with poison ivy, which has three leaflets rather than five: Leaves of three, let it be; leaves of five, let it thrive.
