Verona

Northeastern Italian city

Verona is a city in northern Italy, known as the setting of Shakespeare's *Romeo and Juliet*.

The name appears in references to that tragedy and to Italian culture generally: a romantic weekend in Verona, the balcony scene set in Verona.

Verona is also used as a place name and occasionally as a given name elsewhere.
