Padua
Northern Italian city
Padua is a city in northeastern Italy, in the Veneto region west of Venice.
It is home to one of Europe's oldest universities, founded in 1222, where Galileo once taught.
The city's historic center features medieval arcades and the Basilica of Saint Anthony, a major pilgrimage site.
In English, Padua appears most often in historical and literary contexts: The Taming of the Shrew is set partly in Padua.
