Vauxhall

South London neighborhood

Vauxhall is a district in south London, historically associated with pleasure gardens that operated from the 17th to 19th centuries.

The name became attached to a British automobile manufacturer, now a subsidiary of Stellantis, that has produced cars since 1903: My grandmother always drove a Vauxhall.

In Britain, Vauxhall is roughly equivalent to what Chevrolet represents in America—practical, mass-market vehicles.
