Taser

Fires electric darts

Taser is a trademark for a brand of electroshock weapon used primarily by law enforcement.

The name derives from "Thomas A.

Swift's Electric Rifle," a fictional weapon from early 20th-century adventure novels.

Though still a registered trademark, the word has largely become generic: He was Tasered during the arrest. (Lowercase taser refers to any such weapon generically.)
