T-bones
Loin with backbone
T-bones is the verb form meaning to strike the side of a vehicle at a roughly perpendicular angle, forming a T shape at impact: A truck ran the red light and T-boned her car.
The term comes from the T-bone steak, whose shape—a strip of meat bisected by bone—resembles the collision configuration.
