Stonewall Jackson

Stonewall Jackson was a Confederate general in the American Civil War, considered one of the South's most capable military commanders.

Thomas Jonathan Jackson earned his nickname at the First Battle of Bull Run in 1861, where his brigade held firm "like a stone wall." Known for rapid, aggressive tactics in the Shenandoah Valley Campaign, he was accidentally shot by his own troops at Chancellorsville in 1863 and died shortly after.
