Rwanda genocide
1994 African atrocity
The Rwanda genocide was the 1994 mass slaughter of Tutsi people by Hutu extremists in Rwanda, killing approximately 800,000 people in roughly 100 days.
The term refers specifically to this event rather than genocide generally: survivors of the Rwanda genocide, the international community's failure to intervene during the Rwanda genocide.
Also called the Rwandan genocide.
