American art
Art from America
American art encompasses visual works created in or representing the United States, from colonial portraits through Hudson River School landscapes to Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art.
The term often implies distinctly American subjects or sensibilities: The museum's American art wing features Winslow Homer and Georgia O'Keeffe.
It can also designate an academic field studying this tradition.
