Rangoon
Myanmar city, formerly
Rangoon is the former name of Yangon, Myanmar's largest city and former capital.
The British colonial spelling remained standard in English until Myanmar's military government officially changed it in 1989.
Both names persist in English usage, with Rangoon appearing in historical contexts and established phrases like Rangoon creeper (a flowering vine).
