Ramzan

Muslim holy month

Ramzan is an alternate spelling of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar during which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset.

This spelling reflects pronunciation in Persian, Urdu, and Turkish traditions: We're visiting family during Ramzan.

The month commemorates the revelation of the Quran and ends with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
