church year
Sacred seasonal cycle
The church year is the annual cycle of seasons and holy days observed in Christian worship, organizing the liturgical calendar around events in Christ's life.
It typically begins with Advent and moves through Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost.
Different denominations follow variations of this pattern: The church year structures our reading of Scripture.
