Omicron
Pi's Greek predecessor
Omicron is the fifteenth letter of the Greek alphabet (Ο, ο), corresponding to the English short O.
The name means "small O," distinguishing it from omega ("big O").
Outside Greek studies, omicron gained sudden prominence in 2021 as the World Health Organization's designation for a COVID-19 variant: The omicron variant spread rapidly across the globe.
