Northeast Passage

Siberian sea corridor

The Northeast Passage is the sea route along the northern coasts of Europe and Asia, connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans through Arctic waters.

It runs from the Norwegian Sea eastward past Siberia to the Bering Strait.

Historically frozen for most of the year, climate change has made it increasingly navigable: Cargo ships are now using the Northeast Passage as a shortcut between Europe and Asia.
