Nagano

Japanese Alps city

Nagano is a city in central Japan, capital of Nagano Prefecture in the mountainous Chubu region.

It hosted the 1998 Winter Olympics and remains known for skiing and winter sports.

The city is also home to Zenkoji, a seventh-century Buddhist temple that draws millions of pilgrims annually.

We spent a week in Nagano during ski season.
