Japanese Alps
Central Honshu range
The Japanese Alps are three mountain ranges running through the center of Honshu, Japan's main island: the Northern, Central, and Southern Alps.
Named by a nineteenth-century British visitor who saw resemblance to the European Alps, they contain many of Japan's highest peaks and are popular destinations for hiking, skiing, and hot springs: We spent a week trekking through the Japanese Alps.
