Mallard

Record-breaking steam train

A mallard is a wild duck, the most common and widespread species in the Northern Hemisphere.

The male is recognizable by its iridescent green head, white neck ring, and chestnut breast, while the female has mottled brown plumage that provides camouflage.

Mallards are the ancestors of most domestic duck breeds and are found in parks, ponds, and wetlands throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

We fed the mallards at the pond.
