Cochin

Feathered Asian breed

Cochin refers to a breed of large, heavily feathered domestic chicken originating from China, known for its docile temperament and abundant plumage extending down the legs.

The birds were prized in Victorian England and helped spark widespread interest in poultry breeding. (Capitalized Cochin is also a port city in southern India, now officially called Kochi.)
