Knight Templar
Medieval Christian soldier
A Knight Templar was a member of a medieval Catholic military order founded around 1119 to protect Christian pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land.
The Templars became wealthy and powerful before being violently suppressed in the early 14th century, their sudden fall spawning centuries of conspiracy theories and occult legend.
Today, Knight Templar often refers to members of a Masonic order that claims symbolic descent from the original knights: He rose to Knight Templar in his local lodge.
