Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain was the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter of Nirvana, the band whose 1991 album *Nevermind* brought grunge music into the mainstream.

His raw vocal style and confessional lyrics made him an unlikely icon of Generation X.

Cobain struggled publicly with addiction and depression before his suicide in 1994 at age 27, which cemented his status as a tragic rock mythology figure alongside Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.
