Indian corn

Multicolored autumn ears

Indian corn is maize, the grain native to the Americas—called "Indian" by European colonizers who encountered it among indigenous peoples.

The term now most often refers to ornamental varieties with multicolored kernels in red, orange, purple, and yellow, displayed as autumn decoration: We hung Indian corn on the front door for Thanksgiving.
