I-55

Chicago-Louisiana artery

I-55 is an Interstate Highway running north-south through the central United States, connecting New Orleans to Chicago.

Like other Interstate designations, it combines the letter I with a route number—odd numbers for north-south routes, even for east-west.

We took I-55 through Memphis.
