Windy City trains
The Chicago L is the elevated rail transit system serving Chicago and its surrounding areas—one of the oldest and largest rapid transit networks in the United States.
The L (short for "elevated") refers to tracks that run above street level on steel structures, though portions now run underground or at grade.
Chicagoans use it as shorthand for the entire CTA rail system: I take the L to work every day.
