Hispano-Moresque

Spanish-Moorish decorative style

Hispano-Moresque describes the distinctive art and architecture produced in medieval Spain under Islamic influence, particularly the ornate pottery, tiles, and metalwork combining Moorish and Spanish Christian traditions.

The style flourished from the 13th through 15th centuries: Hispano-Moresque lusterware commanded premium prices across Renaissance Europe.

The term applies to decorative arts more than to buildings, which are typically called Moorish or Mudéjar.
