GUIs

Point-and-click systems

GUIs, pronounced "gooeys," is the plural of GUI—graphical user interface.

A GUI lets users interact with a computer through visual elements like windows, icons, and menus rather than typing text commands.

Before GUIs became standard in the 1980s and 90s, most users navigated computers through command lines: Modern GUIs make computing accessible to people who never learned DOS commands.
