French Indochina

Saigon's former federation

French Indochina was a colonial territory in Southeast Asia under French control from the mid-19th century until 1954, comprising present-day Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

The region became a major theater of conflict during World War II and the subsequent First Indochina War, which ended French colonial rule.

The fall of French Indochina marked the beginning of American involvement in Vietnam.
