Mekong River
Flows through Vietnam
The Mekong River is one of Asia's longest rivers, flowing roughly 4,350 kilometers from the Tibetan Plateau through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam before emptying into the South China Sea.
It sustains one of the world's most productive freshwater fisheries and supports tens of millions of people along its course.
The Mekong Delta in Vietnam is a major rice-producing region.
