Faramir
Faramir is a character in J.R.R.
Tolkien's *The Lord of the Rings*, the younger son of Denethor, Steward of Gondor, and brother to Boromir.
Unlike his brother, Faramir resists the temptation of the Ring when he encounters Frodo and Sam in Ithilien.
He represents wisdom and restraint over martial glory—a captain who does not love the sword for its sharpness.
The name is sometimes used to evoke nobility of character or the overlooked sibling who proves worthy.
