Falklands War

South Atlantic campaign

The Falklands War was a 1982 conflict between Britain and Argentina over the Falkland Islands, a British territory in the South Atlantic that Argentina claims as the Malvinas.

Argentina invaded in April; Britain dispatched a naval task force and recaptured the islands by June.

The war killed nearly a thousand people and ended Argentina's military dictatorship.
