Elsinore

Kronborg's English name

Elsinore is the English name for Helsingør, a Danish port city on the northeastern coast of Zealand.

The name is famous as the setting of Shakespeare's *Hamlet*, where the action takes place at the royal castle: Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

Kronborg Castle, the real fortress at Helsingør, is now a tourist destination partly because of the play's association.
