Doctor Zhivago

Doctor Zhivago is a 1957 novel by Boris Pasternak, following a physician and poet through the Russian Revolution and its aftermath.

The Soviet Union banned it; Pasternak won the Nobel Prize but was forced to decline.

David Lean's 1965 film adaptation, with its sweeping cinematography and romantic tragedy, made the title synonymous with epic love stories set against historical upheaval.
