The Bourne Identity
Spy forgets himself
The Bourne Identity is a 1980 spy novel by Robert Ludlum, and the 2002 film adaptation starring Matt Damon.
The story follows an amnesiac man discovered floating in the Mediterranean who gradually discovers he's a CIA assassin.
The title has become shorthand for amnesia-driven thriller plots: It's very Bourne Identity—he wakes up not knowing who he is.
