DMX

Stage lighting standard

DMX is a communication protocol used to control stage lighting and effects equipment.

Short for Digital Multiplex, it allows a single controller to manage hundreds of lighting fixtures—dimmers, moving heads, fog machines—through a standardized signal chain.

The lighting designer programmed the DMX board for the show.

DMX is also the stage name of the American rapper Earl Simmons (1970–2021), known for aggressive delivery and hits like "Ruff Ryders' Anthem" and "Party Up."
