follow spot
Stage tracking beam
A follow spot is a powerful theater spotlight mounted on a stand and operated manually to track performers as they move across the stage.
The operator pans and tilts the light to keep the subject illuminated: The follow spot caught her as she entered stage left.
Follow spots create dramatic focus during solos, speeches, or key dramatic moments.
