D-rings

D-shaped hardware loops

D-rings are metal or plastic rings shaped like the letter D, with one flat edge and one curved.

They appear on bags, belts, harnesses, and straps as attachment points—the flat side holds stitching or a bar while the curved side accepts hooks, clips, or other hardware: The backpack has D-rings for clipping on accessories.

Common in outdoor gear, BDSM equipment, and military applications.
